NOVO NORDISK IN TOGETHERNESS WITH WOMEN'S CENTER
Novo Nordisk is a focused Health Care Company and the world’s leading company in Diabetes care. From the 2nd to the 4th of May, 2011 they had a programme called “Green house programme”. They invited their colleagues from different countries for example the United States, England, China and India.
Merete at HCØ asked the Noble Ladies at the women's center if they wanted to sing and perform and make lunch for the NOVO Nordisk people on the 3rd of May.
The Noble Ladies prepared some delicious African food. I had never tasted some of the food before in my life despite the fact that l am Africa. For example; bitter leaves and fufu, Chapati, Mandazi and so on. It was super!
On the 3rd of May they were ready for the lunch with Novo Nordisk. Lo and behold, they arrived at the women's center with Merete and Lars from Red Cross and Jimmy from Sandholm, an artist and Asylum seeker. He was there to help a company called 'Bigger Picture' to draw memorable moments of the day.
Maisa from the women’s centre told about the work they do at the women’s centre and Merete told about how they work with the competencies of the asylum seekers at HCØ.
Around 12 p.m. we were seated for lunch. They enjoyed the food very well. I dont think they will ever forget it. Peace from New Times joined for lunch as he was going to assist the Noble Ladies with the evening entertainment. He was invited by the Noble Ladies to beat the drum for them.
“It is a yearly programme organised by Novo Nordisk company. Every year they invite their colleagues from different countries to Denmark to study the culture and history of Denmark and to share ideas as to how to maintain the firmness of the company and know more about the Danish asylum system,” said Tameca Walker (Akum) from the United States.
The also invited the Noble Ladies and myself for dinner at Kollekolle, a congress centre in Værløse. Around 5.30pm we arrived at the place and they gave us a warm reception. Now was the time for the Noble Ladies to show their ability .They sang a beautiful song. I wish you were there. It was fantastic, as if angels were singing. After the wonderful song they performed an Africa dance. We felt at home. We never knew Jimmy was a great singer. He sang a nice song, “Malaika”.
Around 6.30pm we had our dinner together with some of the workers from Novo Nordisk company in Denmark. About 40 people in all. While eating they also performed their ‘company’ song about Diabetes, “l choose to live”.
In a nut shell, l think it was a great day, we went out to interact with people we had never met before. We got relief form some of our stress and boredom. What a day!
